Gilbert is excited to announce that Sydney Bethel will be joining the Office of Economic Development in a brand-new position as Redevelopment Specialist. This position will serve as a liaison to the downtown Heritage District.
The focus of this new role will be maintaining and enhancing on-going efforts with merchants, landowners, residents and developers throughout the Heritage District. Additionally, the Redevelopment Specialist will support the execution of the 10-year Heritage District Redevelopment Plan which was approved by Council in 2018.
Sydney has been a member of Team Gilbert since 2018, and before joining the Office of Economic Development, she worked as a Planner in the Development Services Department.
Sydney is passionate about urban development and during her master’s program, worked in collaboration with Arizona State University and the City of Buckeye to create a Specific Area Plan for Downtown Buckeye which detailed the long-range vision for the area and design standards for the downtown.
Gilbert is thrilled to have this new addition to the organization and is looking forward to Sydney helping us to shape a new tomorrow, today.
