(Gilbert, AZ) – Set to redefine the idea of a modern-day convenience store, renowned restaurateurs and co-founders of Upward Projects, Craig and Kris DeMarco, and retail store gurus, Eric and Elissa Seitz of Bro Retail Group have broken ground on their newest project, Air Guitar, with an opening slated for Q3 2021. The groundbreaking marks the beginning of construction for one of the Valley’s highest profile new retail concepts, and brings together a dream team of local architects and builders in its mission to bring “Life’s Little Luxuries™” under one stylish, convenient roof. Featuring an arresting, innovative design by the award-winning debartolo architects, Air Guitar is being built by Robert E. Porter Construction on the northwest corner of Higley and Ray roads (right next door to Epicenter at Agritopia).

Born from the belief that a grab-and-go stop could be a meaningful part of your day, not just something on the way, Air Guitar tempts with an airy 5,000-sq.-ft. interior housed under a soaring 9,000-sq.-ft. roof canopy that floats above the space, while bathing it in natural light from all sides. Bookended with dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass walls that are artfully protected from the Arizona sun, this desert sensitive yet highly technical building is designed for rapid arrival, efficient flow, self-service and high-convenience, says architect, Jack DeBartolo III, FAIA. Most important, he says “the timeless yet timely building offers generous exterior seating in a park-like setting featuring 60+ trees, making the corner of this important intersection feel more like a park than a new building.”

Tucked inside this stunning setting, Air Guitar will pair heathy grab and go items with premium beer & wine and exceptional coffee & tea, all served up by an enhanced food and beverage-trained staff. Developed separately but in parallel with the new Epicenter at Agritopia, Air Guitar will serve as a quick and easy welcome to an electric new mixed-use experience developed by Johnston Companies. Founder Joe Johnston worked with the DeMarcos & Seitzes to purchase and develop the corner parcel based on their experience creating best-in-class concepts that transform entire neighborhoods. “We couldn’t be happier to have Air Guitar anchor one of the most significant intersection transformations in the state,” Joe Johnston says.
