Gilbert, Ariz. – As part of its City of the Future initiative, Gilbert is taking a proactive approach to examining the Northwest employment area, the community’s oldest and densest employment corridor, to understand how infrastructure, residential and commercial real estate, transportation, and cultural amenities along commercial corridors contribute to creating vibrant, livable, and healthier places. To kick off the creation of a Specific Area Plan for this part of the community, Gilbert will be hosting a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) on Tuesday, November 19th from 9:45 AM – 4:00 PM at the Gilbert Town Council Chambers located at 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85296.

The community is invited to attend this panel discussion which will be led by experts in a variety of roles including development, urban planning, architecture, financial, legal, and brokerage. The panel will spend an entire day focused on development best practices that can positively impact Gilbert and the Northwest area of the community, located south of the US 60 from Baseline Road to just south of Elliot Road and extends from Arizona Avenue to Cooper Road.

Gilbert anticipates creating a draft Specific Area Plan for the Northwest employment area and this effort is expected to continue through June 2020. Following this panel discussion, there will be other community engagement and events.
